# SUB-007 — Single-session ADHD strategy

Story

Ishai prefers single Claude Code sessions because cross-session context loss is worse than session sprawl — Claude with full vault context gives better answers than Claude in a silo. But single-session means substantive responses get buried in chat scrollback. ADHD blows out the chat. He stops reading.

Strategy = treat chat as ephemeral pointers; durable content lives in vault files. Subjects shelf (SUB-NNN), Action Board (AB-NNN), Errands (ERR-NNN), Activity log all survive scrollback. Daily session refresh is a separate decision (not yet locked).

Decisions made

  • 2026-05-06. Single-session preferred. Cross-session memory > silo isolation.
  • 2026-05-06. Substantive Claude output goes to vault subject files, not chat. (Saved as durable feedback memory; see SUB-002.)
  • 2026-05-06. Studio (Site B) is the navigation hub for all durable surfaces — read there, not via folder spelunking.
  • 2026-05-06. Subjects auto-created proactive (Claude opens SUB-NNN when topic spans >3 turns or new initiative is introduced) + live-updated. Ishai doesn't manage cadence.
  • 2026-05-06. ID-paste workflow: Ishai pastes SUB-NNN to context-shift cheaply. Claude reads that one file, no re-explaining.

Open threads

  • Daily session refresh — locked rule (e.g. "new session every morning at 9am") or by feel?
  • Auto-create rule trigger heuristics — "topic spans >3 turns" is fuzzy. Better signal needed (topic shift detection? user says "let's talk about X"?)
  • Subject backfill — should I retroactively scan recent activity log + chat to seed missing subjects, or only forward-going?
  • When does a subject become resolved vs stay open? Heuristic missing.
  • Subjects-shelf placement on Studio home — currently shows top 8 open. Should pin "recently touched" instead? Or both views?
